From Basement to Business

Over the course of the past few months, Vaughny Custom Shoes has skyrocketed into success. We are overjoyed by the amount of support we've received from the community and the abundant increase in orders made, since first opening shop in October of 2019. What started as a high school girl painting her old Converse shoes in her room, has now transcended into a thriving business, bringing peoples ideas to life on their shoes for thousands across the country. The summer of 2019 is when Vaughny’s founder, Kaila Wagner, began her journey into the world of shoe painting. Bored one day, she put a paintbrush to her dirty old Converse shoe and started to paint. As family and friends began noticing her unique painted kicks, more and more requests for custom shoes started pouring in. Kaila took this as an opportunity to make a little extra money on the side, but had no idea that within 9 short months she would have her own business; selling over 1500 pairs of custom shoes. She discovered that people like to give a little character and originality to their generic shoes, and that she could be the means to do so. She saw it as a way for people to better express themselves, so she made it her mission to help bring peoples ideas, interests and dreams to life on their shoes. Today, Vaughny operates in its own workshop located in NW, Calgary and employs over 25 people. Every day is dedicated to creating beautiful hand painted shoes for our customers, helping bring their ideas to life and expressing themselves as unique individuals. What started out as a small side business painting friends scuffed up sneakers, has now grown into fulfilling nearly 15 shoe orders a day. We are beyond grateful for the journey we've been on and how much our company has grown. We look forward to what the future has in store for Vaughny Custom Shoes.
