Vaughny Custom Shoes
Title of position: Shoe painter/ customizer
Position type: Part Time

Position Overview:

Vaughny Custom Shoes is looking for a skilled artist to join our team to help create one of a kind, hand painted shoes for our customers. Vaughny is growing quickly and in dire need of more help. So if you have exceptional drawing/painting skills and have a passion for creating, this position may be perfect for you.

What a Vaughny Shoe Painter Does:

As a Vaughny shoe customizer, you will be directly responsible for the designing, sketching and painting of our custom kicks. You will put your epic artistic abilities to work by taking customers ideas and bringing them into fruition.  

Responsibilities:
- Talking with customers and coming up with ideas and rough designs for their shoes 
- Planing designs on paper or digitally to gain customers approval 
- Sketching designs onto shoes (if applicable) 
- Painting shoes of all  brands, makes and sizes
- Listening to and fulfilling customers desires/ adhering to design changes or requests
- Creating beautiful, high quality, detailed paintings 

This Position is right for you if you:

- Have a passion for art and creating (specifically drawing and painting)
- Have a continued history with creating amazing art
- Have a strong work ethic and good attention to detail
- Have exceptional drawing and painting skills
- Have a positive attitude and strive to do your best
- Have outstanding communication and customer service skills
- Have the ability to meet deadlines and finish work on time without diminishing quality of work
- Have good problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively 
- Don't mind sitting for extended periods of time 
- Like working individually but also able to work as a team
- Live in the Calgary Area 
-Want to work in a fun, chill environment and paint some epic shoes!

About Vaughny Custom Shoes:

Vaughny Custom Shoes is a small shoe painting business based out of Calgary, Alberta. We create one of a kind hand painted kicks for our customers, providing them with unique shoes that mean something to them. We strive to make peoples ideas and passions come to life on their feet, and we take pride in the effort and quality that goes into every pair of custom painted shoes. We also work hard to give back to the community by donating 10% of all profits to charities helping the 1 in 5 children living in poverty in Canada.

From Basement to Business

Over the course of the past few months, Vaughny Custom Shoes has skyrocketed into success. We are overjoyed by the amount of support we've received from the community and the abundant increase in orders made, since first opening shop in October of 2019. What started as a high school girl painting her old Converse shoes in her room, has now transcended into a thriving business, bringing peoples ideas to life on their shoes for thousands across the country. The summer of 2019 is when Vaughny’s founder, Kaila Wagner, began her journey into the world of shoe painting. Bored one day, she put a paintbrush to her dirty old Converse shoe and started to paint. As family and friends began noticing her unique painted kicks, more and more requests for custom shoes started pouring in. Exciting Partnership Announcement

Hey team, I have very exciting news to share with you all. As all of you are aware, Vaughny has grown exponentially over the last few months, and I am so proud of all of the hard work from each and everyone of you. As we continue to grow, our opportunity to branch out widens. As our goals for the company expand, we are finding different ways in which to obtain them. That's why we are very excited to announce that Vaughny will be partnering up with Hickies laces, this coming May.  Hickies reached out to our marketing team this past Thursday proposing the opportunity to partner alongside them, and we have graciously accepted. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Hickies, they are not your conventional pair of laces. Unlike traditional laces that run through an entire shoe, they instead have one “hickie” or small rubber band-like unit that goes through each pair of eyelets in a shoe.
